Leah Parker
Leah Parker is an experienced professional who has facilitated award-winning presentations and conducted workshops for student leaders, RAs, and Residence Life professionals for the past 7 years. She is a passionate presenter committed to helping individuals and work groups reach their full potential through productive interaction and examination of key issues facing both students and staff. Leah brings a strong background in residence life and commitment to excellence to all her workshops.
Workshop topics include:
- Seven Strategies for a Successful Student Staff - this presentation is targeted to professional staff and provides key supervision strategies to help guide student staffs to their full potential. This presentation was recognized as the Mid-Atlantic Association of College and University Housing Officers (MACUHO) Region's Best in 2001.
- Diversity - Leah has presented on a range of diversity topics including the experience of less visible diversity, the GLBT community, and general awareness and support for all differences. Both her presentation entitled "Less Visible Diversity" and co-presented workshop "Teaching Tolerance: Creating Effective Diversity Training for Your Student Staff" received Top Ten Program Awards at the MACUHO Annual conferences in 2001 and 1999.
- Purposeful Language - this workshop entitled, "Finding Meaning in the Ivory Tower of Babble" challenges the concept of politically correct language and invites participants to explore the true meaning of their words. In 2001, this session received a MACUHO Top Ten Program Award.
- Other topics include: Ethical Leadership and Role Modeling, Team-Building, Victimization and Harassment of Student Staff, Dual Relationships, and Setting Limits.
Pricing Information for this Presenter:
Workshops will be individually tailored to meet the needs and goals of your group and can be arranged for either a half-day or a full day. The fee for a half-day is $600 and a full day is $1200 with additional compensation for travel as needed.
